Timber Stand Improvement

Timber stand improvement can help improve the species composition and growth characteristics of your forest. Maybe you want to one day have the option of harvesting your timber, but don’t want to commit to anything. Maybe you want to help your mast producing trees have more productive seasons. We provide these services to help improve your stand, density, undergrowth, and other characteristics. This practice promotes better growth on desirable individuals by reducing competition for resources in an overstocked stand.

Crop Tree Release:

This tract had a few good yellow-poplar, and a lot of much smaller red maple and eastern hop-hornbeam. This was done for timber and wildlife purposes. The fresh coppice growth will be excellent forage, while the downed woody debris is great nesting. The yellow-poplar left standing will shelter future succession of trees and possibly provide good timber.
